The 92km journey between Wellington and Picton takes only 3 hours and has been described as "one of the most beautiful ferry rides in the world". Interislander's 3 vessels give you a wide choice of sailings. Passengers can walk on or take a vehicle.

Wellington The Interislander Terminal is located on Aotea Quay, 5 minutes north of Wellington Railway Station.
PictonThe Terminal is located on Auckland Street, in central Picton.

GENERAL INFORMATION - Rates are in New Zealand Dollars and include local tax (GST) @ 15%. Peak fares apply 01DEC11 to 31MAR12 & 08SEP11 to 17OCT11 inclusive. Note that peak rates apply for travel 08 September 2011 to 17 October 2011 inclusive and penalties for cancellations and no-shows will apply to this period. Interislander reserves the right to apply peak fares for travel to and from special events. All rates are guaranteed, subject to the service operating. Infants (under 2 years) travel free of charge. All children to 15 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Club Class and Kaitaki Plus Lounges available for passengers 18 years of age or over. Timetables are subject to change.
RUGBY WORLD CUP 2011 PENALTIES: A 70% cancellation penalty will apply to any cancellation made less than 28 days during the travel period of 08SEP11 to 17OCT11. Final passenger names are to be advised to Interislander 90 days prior to departure or the space relinquished.
Luggage Passengers may check-in two items of luggage, up to a size of 200 linear cm (height plus length plus width) and weighing up to 30kg each. Excess luggage under 30kg will be charged at $5 per item. Luggage items between 30 and 50kg will be charged an excess luggage fee of $35.
Interislander may reassess at check-in the classification (type, width, length or weight) of any vehicle and applicable changes may be made to the fare charged. Any increase in a fare must be paid before the vehicle is loaded. Vehicles will not be carried unless accompanied by a driver. Trailers or caravans will not be carried unless towed by another vehicle. Carriage of a vehicle may be refused if Interislander considers it to be insecurely loaded or otherwise unsafe for carriage. All vehicles must conform with laws, regulations and General Conditions relating to the carriage of Dangerous or Hazardous Goods or substances. House trucks must have more than 50% of the vehicle permanently converted as living space.
Getting There
If you are travelling as a walk-on passenger, you need to check-in at the terminal at least 45 minutes prior to the departure time of your sailing.
Cancellation Policy
Departure times are not guaranteed and schedules are subject to change. Interislander will not be liable for any loss suffered as a result of a service departing/arriving before or after the scheduled time or being cancelled altogether. To be eligible for a refund, you must cancel your booking 48 hours before check-in time.
